TANTILISING TRADITIONAL TREATS

TANTILISING TRADITIONAL TREATS

The festival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri also known as Eid al-Fitr is synonymous with delicious traditional delicacies. Here are some of our favourites. What’s your Raya must-have?

Ketupat

This iconic dish is a must-have in every household during Eid. Wrapped in handmade coconut leaves pouch, these fluffy steamed rice dumplings are delicious on its own or made better with a curries or side dishes like rendang or serunding.

Rendang

Cooked for hours over low heat using coconut milk and host of spices, this rich and aromatic stew is another star of Raya celebration. This dish is usually eaten with anything that is rice-based, be it plain rice, ketupat, lemang or even white bread!

Lemang

Another Eid favourite that is made with glutinous rice and cooked with coconut milk in a banana leaf-lined bamboo. The filled bamboo tube is then placed slightly slanted on a small fire with the opening facing upwards. It takes about four to five hours to cook lemang, while requiring regular turning to enable even cooking. Best eaten with curries or stews.

Kuah Kacang

Also known as peanut sauce and is made using a variety of spices and peanuts. Drench your lemang, ketupat or satay with this mouth-watering sauce and then repeat!

Dodol

Add sweetness to your celebration with this sweet treat.  This sticky confection has a toffee-like consistency and is made of coconut milk, palm sugar and rice flour. Besides the original flavour, there are also flavours like durian, pandan & more.

Definitely sounds like a feast to us! Have a glorious celebration with you loved ones. Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri from all of us in ONESHOP.
